Moisson Montréal honours donors during Annual Recognition Evening

Thirteen new members added to the Ambassadors Club

MONTREAL, November 11th, 2015 – There was a strong feeling of solidarity all throughout Moisson Montréal’s fourth Annual Recognition Evening, as thirteen new ambassadors were named during the event at HEC’s Restaurant Le Cercle. Hosted by actor and businessman Claude-Michel Bleau, this evening enabled us to recognize the contributions of 90 donors in four donation categories: Volunteering, Donated Goods and Services, Donated Foodstuffs and A1 Foodstuff Donors.

This year, thirteen people were added to Moisson Montréal’s Ambassadors Club, which already comprises more than 30 members. Some of the evening’s highlights: Ève-Marie Lortie receiving the “Spokesperson Prize” for being the godmother of our Great Food Drive for Children; Claude Poisson, President of Operations, Société des Casinos du Québec, receiving the “Exceptional Ambassador” award for his steadfast commitment to battling food insecurity with the 4 casinos, 4 Moisson partnership; and, Dany Michaud receiving the “Special Homage” prize for his exceptional contribution as Executive Director of Moisson Montréal from 2011 to 2015.

Richard Blain, President of the Moisson Montréal Board of Directors, confirms that, “the organization will continue to play an important role in our society in order to address the important issues of hunger and food waste. With its many programs, innovations and future projects, Moisson Montréal is becoming a role model for the social market economy. Consequently, donor contributions and ambassador engagement is more crucial than ever to the pursuit of our organization’s mission. Thanks 140,000 times, once for each person we feed every month!”

Each year, the Moisson Montréal team and its Board of Directors organize a recognition evening for their big donors, to thank them for their extraordinary long-term commitment to addressing the problem of food insecurity.

According to Julie Bourbonnière, Director of Communications, Marketing and Funding for Moisson Montréal, the key to success is solidarity: “From now on, closer collaboration between community organizations and local businesses will be necessary to ensure the survival of socially committed organizations. An economy based on mutual assistance is growing and Moisson Montréal’s partners offer a great role model.”

About Moisson Montréal

A non-profit organization founded in 1984, Moisson Montréal is today the largest food bank in Canada. Through its centre for collecting, sorting and distributing emergency food assistance, the organization allocates nearly 1,000 tons of food per month to close to 250 accredited community organizations on the Island of Montreal.
