The SAQ shows support for the Moissons to help them reach their goal
MONTREAL, April 17, 2015 – On this last day of the Great Food Drive for Children, the three Moissons of the Greater Montreal area announced that they have raised a total amount of $ 210,000, which represents $ 40,000 less than the original target. To bridge the shortfall, the Société des alcools du Québec (SAQ) will invite Quebecers to be even more generous from April 17 to 19, during its “generous wines” campaign by adding a donation to their bill.
During the three days of the campaign, SAQ customers will be solicited at the cash registrar to make a donation, which will then be redistributed to the Moissons – as well as the three organizers of the Great Food Drive for Children: Moisson Montreal, Moisson Rive-Sud and the Centre de bénévolat et moisson Laval. For a second consecutive year, customers will be asked to “generously” spread a symbolic toast: $ 1 for peanut butter, $ 2 for jam, $ 3 for honey, $ 4 for cheddar and $ 5 for terrine. The most enthusiastic donors will combine flavours, to make an even more generous donation. In addition, the SAQ will donate $1 to Food Banks of Quebec (FBQ) for each bottle of white wine sold during the three days of the Generous Wines campaign.
“We are concerned with the fact that we have not reached our goal, but very happy that the SAQ is showing its support towards our campaign. We hope that all wine lovers will partake to help those in need. I would like to recall that 140,000 people, including 20,000 children between the ages of 0 and 5 live in poverty in the Greater Montreal area. They need us! Every donation makes a difference”, said Dany Michaud, Executive Director at Moisson Montreal.
“At a time when needs are constantly growing, it is even more important to get involved”, said Catherine Dagenais, Vice-President – Retail Strategy and Customer Experience. “While we are fortunate to be at the centre of the dining experience, we also want to be at the centre of the community. By supporting Food Banks of Quebec and its 18 regional Moissons, we are contributing to make a difference in the lives of people who struggle to get enough to eat on a daily basis.”
